چکیده

— We consider (n + 1)–dimensional, stationary, asymptotically flat, or Kaluza-Klein asymptotically flat black holes, with an abelian s–dimensional subgroup of the isometry group satisfying an orthogonal integrability condition. Under suitable regularity conditions we prove that the area of the group orbits is positive on the domain of outer communications 〈〈Mext〉〉, vanishing only on the boundary ∂〈〈Mext〉〉 and on the “symmetry axis” A . We further show that the orbits of the connected component of the isometry group are timelike throughout the domain of outer communications. Those results provide a starting point for the classification of such black holes. Finally, we show non-existence of zeros of static Killing vectors on degenerate Killing horizons, as needed for the generalisation of the static no-hair theorem to higher dimensions.

Static four-dimensional Abelian black holes in Kaluza-Klein theory.

Static, four-dimensional (4-d) black holes (BH’s) in (4 + n)-d Kaluza-Klein (KK) theory with Abelian isometry and diagonal internal metric have at most one electric (Q) and one magnetic (P ) charges, which can either come from the same U(1)-gauge field (corresponding to BH’s in effective 5-d KK theory) or from different ones (corresponding to BH’s with U(1)M × U(1)E isometry of an effective 6-d...

v 1 2 3 O ct 2 00 2 Horizons in 1 + 1 Dimensional Dilaton Gravity Coupled to Matter A

We study the local behaviour of static solutions of a general 1+1 dimensional dilaton gravity theory coupled to scalar fields and Abelian gauge fields near horizons. This type of model includes in particular reductions of higher dimensional theories invariant under a sufficiently large isometry group. The solution near the horizon can in general be obtained solving a system of integral equation...

Non-abelian black holes and black strings in higher dimensions

We review the properties of static, higher dimensional black hole solutions in theories where non-abelian gauge fields are minimally coupled to gravity. It is shown that black holes with hyperspherically symmetric horizon topology do not exist in d > 4, but that hyperspherically symmetric black holes can be constructed numerically in generalized Einstein-Yang-Mills models. 5dimensional black st...

Supergeometry of three-dimensional black holes.

We show how the supersymmetric properties of three dimensional black holes can be obtained algebraically. The black hole solutions are constructed as quotients of the supergroup OSp(1| 2;R) by a discrete subgroup of its isometry supergroup. The generators of the action of the isometry supergroup which commute with these identifications are found. These yield the supersymmetries for the black ho...

Black Holes of D=5 Supergravity

We discuss some general features of black holes of five-dimensional supergravity, such as the first law of black hole mechanics. We also discuss some special features of rotating supersymmetric black holes. In particular, we show that the horizon is a non-singular, and non-rotating, null hypersurface whose intersection with a Cauchy surface is a squashed 3-sphere. We find the Killing spinors of...
